Language and Education
The Third Mwenge Catholic University Conference on Language and Education is an inter-disciplinary forum brings together leading scholars, researchers and practitioners from around the Region(Eastern and Central Africa) and abroad to present and discuss new advancements and research findings in the fields of language and education. We invite everyone to participate and contribute research articles or academic papers to be presented in the event.
The conference, which will be held at Mwenge Catholic University, Moshi Kilimanjaro Tanzania on the 24th and 25th of November 2016, is now calling for abstracts and full papers. The secretariat invites academics, researchers and professionals who wish to share papers, research findings or new theories on the topics above to submit their abstract/proposals and join us in this event.
The following list of subthemes just gives ideas of the topics that could be discussed by participants during the two day conference. We therefore welcome contributions on anyof the topics that can contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the areas covered by the conference’s main theme; Language and Education:

Presenters are urged to submit their abstract by 15th of August to the Conference coordinator, Dr. Godfrey Telli at the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
Furthermore, presenters are advised to adhere to the following submission guidelines when writing their abstracts:
- The title of the paper (should not exceed 22 words)
- Abstracts text written in English not exceeding 500 words.
- The abstract should state the following: what is the research about, methodology, findings, and conclusion.
- Abstracts should address directly at least one of the key strands of the conference, namely, Language and Education
Please note also that, abstracts shall be passed on to reviewers as soon as they are received. Authors may receive review results between as early as 48 hours up to 7 days upon initial submission. Please ensure that you had entered a working email address during registration and check your spam folder in case our mail was routed there.
- Papers should not exceed 20 pages long. This is inclusive of all text, tables, figures, and appendices.
- Papers on any of the themes listed will be accepted for review. The author will be notified via email if their paper has been accepted. Notifications may also include reviewer(s) comments and suggestions.
- Presenters may opt to NOT publish their papers in the conference proceedings. In this case, please inform the conference secretariat early.
- The content, schedules, name tags and proceedings of the conference portfolio will normally be finalized before the conference start date. Please confirm your participation on time.
Oral Presentation Formats
Each presenter shall be given 20-25 minutes for presentation. An additional 10-15 minutes will be added for Q&A which will be moderated by the session chair.For the benefit of the audience, the presentation should at least state the following:
- An overview of the concept/ theories/research being presented
- Research methods and methodology (if any)
- The findings (if any)
- The conclusion.
Full papers presented at The 3rdMWECAU Conference 2016 (MCUC – 2016) will be published in the conference proceedings and shall be distributed to participants within 30 days after the event. Selected authors will be offered an opportunity to be published in the Mwenge Journal of Academic Studies (MJAS). Selection of articles will be based a number of factors including, among other things, quality of research, originality and style. Selected papers may be required to undergo further review and editing before actual publication.
Note: English is the official language of all conference presentations, papers and abstracts to be submitted.

- Abstract Submission Deadline: 15 August 2016
- Full Paper Submission Deadline: 10 September 2016
- Conference Registration (include fee payments) starting from: 30 August 2016 (the exercise will continue until the conference day)
